Tony L. Talbert, Ed.D., is a Professor of Qualitative Research and Social-Cultural Studies Education at Baylor University. During his 37-year career as a teacher, scholar, and education activist, Tony’s research and teaching have contributed to local, state, and national conversations and initiatives that promote teacher, student, and community stakeholder empowerment through active engagement in democratic practices. As a collaborative researcher, Tony has launched multiple research initiatives leading to the integration of qualitative and mixed methods research methodologies in university-wide program evaluations, funded research projects, and national/international qualitative research partnerships that continue their impact today.

Tony is the recipient of the McGraw-Hill Distinguished Scholar Award and member of the inaugural class of Baylor University Fellows. Tony’s commitment to Education As Democracy through participatory qualitative research has been recognized for excellence and impact in academia and the community at large.
